What does GPCA stand for?
We are a California-based product firm building original gears (Patent pending) for all Jeep enthusiasts. GPCA stands for “General Purpose California”. You may have known that “Jeep” is a phonetic pronunciation of the abbreviation GP, from “General-Purpose”, that was used as part of the official Army nomenclature in WWII.
What is GPCA Jeep Wrangler trunk cargo cover designed for?
GPCA JL cargo cover is designed for the 2018-2019 Jeep Wrangler JL .
GPCA JK cargo cover is designed for the 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK .
It’s a flexible cover with multiple configurations (patent pending). The Pro version tonneau cover is designed for topless and top on.
Both of them are compatible with the Quick-Release Thumb Anchor Bolt to enhance the cargo area usage and provide all-around cargo area privacy.
What is the difference between the Cargo Cover LITE and the Cargo Cover PRO?
The GPCA Cargo Cover Pro is an upgrade to the Bestseller Cargo Cover LITE
- Designed for both top-on or topless
- Double-layer with MOLLE system to mount accessories
- Reversible for 2 different looks, plain or military look for top-on or topless
- Newly designed Tie-Down D-Plates as an upgrade allowing more accessories to mount to with an integrated look
Why do I need to install a GPCA Cargo Cover?
1. It provides full privacy to your JL/ JK cargo & covers cargo to deter thieves.
2. It provides a clean appearance for your cargo area.
3. It helps prevent the cargo stuff from flying around during an accident of a certain level under a soft top or hardtop.
4. It significantly lowers the chance of your soft/ hardtop getting car burglar’s damage.
5. It rolls/folds and stores in a very compact roll/pack in seconds.
6. It transforms to fit your need in multiple configurations, especially accommodating 2DR’s back seat setup.
7. It is integrated with a rear seat strap that holds the JK 2DR rear seat up when it is folded.
If my hardtop window is tinted, and I have a tarp, why do I still need a GPCA Cargo Cover?
A tinted window is similar to putting a nice pair of glasses on car burglars, they will still see what you had in there if they want. It’s not the best way to keep things out of sight. And you lost the 360-degree clear view that your Jeep brings you. We have a playlist of burglar stealing from Jeep here. A piece of tarp can cover, but it put on a messy look and it is easy to tell there is or there is no stuff underneath. GPCA is specifically designed to form fit your Jeep with a neat look and multiple configurations for fit the cargo space.
Will this work for soft top besides hardtop? Is there a recommended way to fasten/use the cover with the soft top folded down?
Yes. If you have a JL/ JK soft top, you will need this Compatible Jeep Wrangler Quick Release Anchor Bolt (or M8-1.25X25 bolts and nuts from any local hardware store like ACE) to hold down the included Tie-down D-rings. The Hardtop comes with these 6 bolts. With the soft top folded down, you can either lose the fastener a bit keep it in place, or you can roll the cover and store it like this, or tuck it away.
How well does it hold up with the soft top or hardtop removed at HWY speeds?
For both topless and top on, the Cargo Cover PRO is your top choice.
The GPCA Cargo Cover LITE is built as a privacy cover to hide your valuables under a JL or JK soft/ hardtop. it’s not our design intent for off top. We have some users reported no problem driving topless driving around town. But we only recommend using under the top to hide your valuable as we designed and obviously you can use it topless when you park and it will still hide your stuff and protect them from light rain since it’s very nice water repelling nylon material. Other hard trunk covers/boxes, that secure your belongings when the top is off, serve the specific purpose, but it is pricey and not as flexible. Imagine you got a big tall item to transport under a soft/ hardtop, you can easily tuck away a GPCA cover on the side or convert it to a half trunk coverage in a minute. but for a hard cargo cover/lid/box, they are not going anywhere without significant effort.
What tools do I need to install a GPCA cargo cover?
A T40 Torx (JK) or a T50 Torx (JL) Screwdriver. * No tool is required if your hardtop has the Hardtop/ Cover Quick Release Anchor Bolt Kit.
If you have a soft top, you will need to check the clearance of the 6 mounting holes, and this compatible Jeep Wrangler Quick Release Anchor Bolt (or M8-1.25 bolts and nuts from any local hardware store like ACE) to hold down the included Tie-down D-rings.
I have both hardtop and soft top on my JL, which cover model should I choose?
Select the Soft top. The soft top version has additional hardware for the soft top and necessary hardware for your hard top.
* If you have a Sky One-Touch Power Top, 6 screw holes on the tub edge are covered by the side window panel on both sides. You will need to remove the windows, and then install the tie-downs under the tub edge instead of the top of the tub edge which requires 6 extra M8 nuts (standard size from a local hardware store, we currently don’ t provide these nuts in the soft top package).
How to install the GPCA JL Cargo Cover?
Step 1: Remove the 6 Torx screws which are holding down the Jeep hard top.
Step 2: Insert the included 6 Tie-down D-rings/ D-plates under the bolt, fasten the screw. or use the GPCA Quick Release to replace the factory screws.
Step 3: Mount the cover:
a. Mount the middle row straps FIRST and align the rollbar base openings to the rollbar base (not the rollbar itself)
b. Mount the angled straps next to the back seat gently. Over tighten the 2 straps can cause misalignment from too much pulling. * Soft top owner needs to demount the top pillar to install a pair of D-ring/ D-plate
c. Mount the straps near the tailgate gently. Please balance the cover and DO NOT pull too hard. Make sure the side end panels are resting on top of the plastic base instead of under it. *With a soft top, when it collapses it takes over some cargo space under the tub edge. Before you fold the top, the nearest 2 end-straps need to be adjusted to provide the space needed for the folded soft top. The cargo space is still covered when the soft top is down.
How to install the GPCA JK Cargo Cover?
Step 1: Remove the 6 Torx screws which are holding down the Jeep hard top.
Step 2: Insert the included 6 Tie-down D-rings/ D-plates under the washer and the bolt, fasten the screws. or use the GPCA Quick Release to replace the factory screws. * Hand holds the retainer under the tub edge flat, make sure the bolt aligns with the center hole on the retainer, secure it.
Step 3: Attach the Velcro on the straps (LITE PLUS) or snap the hooks on with the logo side up (LITE).
Step 4: Adjust the straps (similar to backpack straps) to your desired tightness with care.

How do I tighten and how tight can I adjust the JK cover LITE straps?
The new LITE PLUS version has the upgraded strap system, please use the Velcro to adjust the tightness. Only if you have the earlier models with the clip and adjuster, please follow the steps:
- Slide the adjuster close to the Cargo Cover LITE end
- Slide the adjuster towards the D-ring and pull the end of the strap at the same time with care. *pull it too hard to damage the cover/ clips
- Slide the adjuster back without pulling the end of the strap
- Slide the adjuster towards the D-ring and pull the end of the strap with care. Repeat step 3 if needed.
Tips: To loosen the strap, slide the adjuster back and forth without pulling the strap.
When the 6 straps are well adjusted and balanced out with care, the cover will be flat to hide away your valuables, but it’s a flexible foldable soft cover, like a soft top is never going to be as flat and solid as a hardtop, and people like them in different ways.
Do you need a tailgate bar for the GPCA cargo cover?
The installation of the GPCA cargo cover does NOT require a tailgate bar.
What’s included in the package of GPCA cargo cover?

Or a Jeep Wrangler 2DR cargo full-coverage-sized cover with integrated/separable rear seat holding strap + FREE 6 Tie-down D-rings (a $15 value). * you can slide the integrated Jeep JK 2DR rear seat holding strap from the cargo cover and use it independently. It is on the front seat end of the GPCA cargo cover.
The Freedom Pack will also include a GPCA Organizer makes it a more complete pack compare to the Cover PRO, it can double as a cargo divider, Jeep tailgate cover depending on where you mount it. And it has a big pouch you can store stuff in it, you can reach it behind the back seat if you mount it there.
*If you have a soft top, buying the compatible GPCA Quick-release Anchor Bolt is highly recommended for installation.
What’s the difference between the GPCA cargo cover and the cargo cover freedom pack?
The Freedom Pack includes a GPCA Organizer. Makes it a more complete pack compare to the Cover itself, the organizer can double as a cargo divider, Jeep tailgate cover depending on where you mount it. And it has a big pouch you can store stuff in it, you can reach it behind the back seat if you mount it the
Will the JK cargo cover PRO work under the soft top or when the soft top is folded?
Yes. You can always adjust the tightness of the last 2 straps to accommodate it.
Since the soft top doesn’t come with the hardtop bolts, getting the M8 bolts or the GPCA Quick Release PRO is highly recommended.
What’s the size and coverage of the GPCA cargo cover?
The JKU cargo cover is W62” X L30.5” (W158cm X L77.5cm) when fully opened, and folded is approximate L13.75” X W8.5” (L35cm X W21.5cm). The JK cargo cover is even longer to cover all the way to the back of the driver seat W62″ X L41.25″(W158cm X L104 cm). It provides amazing multiple configurations with varies length depending on your setup. The dimensions and structure of the current design are a balance between giving a reasonable range for a reclined front seat and cargo area coverage while well-supporting the 3-configuration-usage scenarios. The rear window of JK is slightly curved. To avoid the cargo cover being stuck in between the rear window and the tailgate, the midpoint of the cargo cover edge to the midpoint of the window should have 1-2″ distance when it is installed properly.
How much weight I can put on the GPCA cargo cover?
The LITE version is single layer only to cover the cargo area, but the PRO version has stronger support for extra bags and stuff with 2inch straps and double layers. But we commend to fill up the cargo space underneath before putting anything on top of it to maximize the cargo use, provide support to anything on top of the cargo cover, and avoid extra weight damaging the cover structure.
How to use the half cargo area coverage with the GPCA cargo cover?
Want to free up your half trunk for your taller item and still have some privacy for the rest?
Step 1: Undo the 2 straps/ Unhook the two hooks near the tailgate.
Step 2: Fold the cover down to fully cover the inner half truck. Tuck the side panels to the back.
For JK 2DR cargo cover, you will have more configurations when your rear seat is up, down, folded or removed. Please read the user manual or watch the video here.
How to smooth out the crease line of the cover?
Please be patient. It will take some time to flatten it naturally over time, similar to any large surface Polyester products, for example, flag.
And you can accelerate it by gently washing it in cold water to “relax” the crease line, and then hang dry them (unfolded) on (or over) a taut line.
How to prevent the cover from fading under strong sunlight when topless?
Longtime UV exposure to the polyester material can cause de-coloring over time, our material is similar to what the Jeep factory uses for the interior. Depends on how much UV exposure is, Jeepers usually apply Aerospace 303 Marine Grade protectant to our cover and all interior fabrics on a Jeep.
How to fold the GPCA trunk cargo cover for storage?
Fold the cover by the crease lines between stiffener panels or simply roll it with care. It can be easily tucked under your seats or anywhere else to stand by for its next duty.
How to tuck away the GPCA cargo cover to the side?
To temporary free up space for your pet or taller items, you can easily roll the cover to one side like this.
Step 1: Unstrap/ Unhook either left/ right side.
Step 2: flip both of the inside wings inward.
Step 3: fold the cover in the middle, and strap/ hook on to the other side’s tie-down rings.
